1. What topic in the video did you most strongly identify with and why?
-  when the boy's mom wrote to the school and took action with something she barely knew about and embarrassed me in some way in the school.
2. What topic in the video was the most UNLIKE your own experiences online and why?
- Cyberbullying. I have never experienced it and i hope never to.
3. What advice to you have to parents about kids and being online?
- to give them the knowledge and education of the dangers that are online and let them use those. As the quote says, give a man a fish and he will be satisfied for a night. Teach a man to fish and he will be satisfied for a lifetime. Teach them to take care of themselves and respect their privacy.
4. What are biggest benefits of being online, for you, personally?
- having so much information available in just one place.

- solar impulse is a project of a solar powered plane to travel across america to demonstrate the power of solar energy
- Basically it is trying to demonstrate that since the plane is powered by the sun, it can practically fly forever since solar energy will never run out.

Assignment

How can sustainable consumption be used in Bogota?

Bogota is a fast growing city. It is reaching the 8 million people within the city and has incredibly big suburbs. Many of these 8 million people have cars and other polluting means of transportation. There are about 1.2 private cars in Bogota and that does not count public transportation, which has been increasing in the amount of vehicles with buses and the Transmilenio project. The vast majority of these are powered by gasoline, a nonrenewable resource that pollutes in the form of CO2 Gas.

A very good way to use sustainable consumption in Bogota would be to introduce environmentally friendly means of transport to citizens, like bicycles. Establishing more routes for the bikes would drive more citizens into the direction of bicycle transport since it is exercise, it is environmentally friendly, and it avoids traffic jams. Adding to that idea would be to introduce electronic cars to the city. This would reduce the amount of pollution that is produced by the city's #1 pollutant, burned fuel in the form of gasoline.

It would all be a long term project, since people are not going to accept change from night to day. They are still very broad ideas that would need buffering and work but its a start to help the planet and to reduce our carbon footprint as a city. These would also demonstrate renewable energy since electronic cars are mostly based on solar energy through solar panels. The idea would help the city, it just needs a little bit of work.

Google Maps and Google Earth


Although these two apps are not the same thing, they are very similar. Google earth is speacialized in satellite imagery while google maps, having satellite imagery, also takes a look at traffic, directions, political divisions and other specific aspects of certaing areas. Google maps is an iphone and google earth is an app within the iphone.


Google Maps include:

- World Info.

Google streetview is a program set up to explore the world in a generalized aspect, but from the comfort of your own home. Google cars have been deployed all over the world since May 25, 2007.  Each car has a built in camera on the roof that takes 360 images of the place.

Directions is a program within google maps that is more like a GPS system, When used, it pinpoints your location or a location you enter and gets you the directions from there, to anywhere you want to go.

World info. is a tab within maps or earth thats gives you data about a certain region or place. i.e. Weather, traffic, terrain/



This program could be used by the school commuunity for school projects in the streetview areas. The galleries available in this division are amazing and very complete in every aspect possible when you take into consideration that you are thousands of miles apart from the place you are staring at in such details and panoramic availability.

- most spyware is equipped with firewalls and protection to make them hard to remove
- spyware is hard to install on other computers and for information gathering, it is mostly placed from the inside of the computer, not by an external route
- spyware is not only for computers. There are now apps to install in mobile devices where you set up a destination for the monitoring to go
- spyware is used by companies to monitor company provided devices and ensure proper use. Also by parents concerned for their children´s technology use and even by law enforcement to get information on suspects
- It is now open to that public to download on personal devices, using them for personal monitoring and securing personal information
- Many programs against spyware like antivirus but for spyware exist.

These may relate to my life beacuse someone may try to use spyware on me and now I know how to prevent that, as well as how to use it on someone. hahaha

Design Project day 5

Did we meet fun expectations?
- Yes. The game met the expectations as it had competition and the common interest, soccer.
The biggest problem we encountered was creating the soccer nets. We had to cut very little cardboard pieces and create a sort of puzzle on a bigger box to make it realistic. The good thing was we overcame it and it turned out awesome

Our biggest Ah Ha idea was using shredded paper as the confetti to cover up our little balls inside the boxes.

We didn't resist new ideas. We just wanted to throw more cool things inside and all the ideas we had we either put in directly or adapted them to fit in better.

My only doubt really was if making a card pyramid would be possible because it is very hard. I overcame it by placing supports on both sides to make the cards hold more easily.

We didn't play "devil advocate". We just accepted the ideas and let everything flow, which turned out great for us.

I learned that this process makes the actual building a lot easier as you have everything planned and organized greatly. I also learned that in teamwork, you should open to others ideas and contributions which will actually help your work. Two heads work better than one.

Design Project Day 3

Define Phase-


Is our design "fun" according to our initial definition and targeted group?
- Yes our game is fun according to our initial definition since it includes:
1. not being that hard but not giving the game away; the soccer phase is pretty easy but the card phase is a little bit harder, so it levels out.
2. It has common interesting topics; soccer is included and most people enjoy soccer and the topic.
3. The game has competition; it is a race between two players to see who can get there first.
4. You win something; you get 1 bonbon bum.

What are the most powerful ideas of our design?
- 2 things, number 1 is that it has soccer. Which is a common interesting topic and will attract players. Number 2 is the competition part of the game. it makes it funner and at the same time a bit harder. plus it attracts 2 people automatically since you cant play alone.

What are the things we can leave out?
- We could leave out the part of making a card pyramid. This phase is the hardest phase and it may drive away players because of complexity.

We will work together. Collaborating and making each part count with maximum quality. We start with the platform, then move to making the two soccer goals, and the materials for that phase. Then panting the bowls to the platform and third setting up the card stage.

- Sofia's model has the most strength. It inst very detailed, but it shows the organization we want for the game to run smoothly and easily. It clearly shows where each contestant begins and how they must continue as they unlock the next step along the game.

- We might need to add stants for the different activity, organize them by separating them and giving them space.

Brainstorm ideas for game

our game will be a competition between two players to get a little ball out of a bowl full of confetti, and when they do, score 5 goals with that ball in a little goal. when they do, they unlock three cards and have to make a pyramid with them.

-the cards may be too slippery or can get lost/eaten
