Techo Tool Evaluation

Desmos (first tool)

https://www.desmos.com

This website is an advanced graphing calculator that basically lets you draw on graphs by making the lines with mathematica equations.

I liked:

- It is extremely advanced and user friendly
- Is open to everyone and has no need to download or pay anything
- you can draw or work on ti with lines or mathematical tools and equations

I didn't like:

It is way too complicated to use
You have to create one equation for every single line
You have to use math

I would use it:

To draw when if i would ever have A LOT of free time and was bored with my life.
To do graphs virtually for a math project

Easybib (second tool)

http://www.easybib.com

I like:

It is easy to use
Free to all
It makes finding bibliographies a lot easier

I dont like:

it is a gloomy website
you have to know the exact quote for the page to work
it is full of advertisement

When I would use it:

to find the source of quotes from people
to find bibliographies of my research if i already closed the original page

Linux

Before my research, I know that Linux is a computer operating system, Nothing more.

I want to learn:

What makes Linux special/different?
Who uses Linux?
On what does Linux specialize?
What is it preferable for?
Who invented it?

Linux HomePage

Linux Application Center

(wikipedia)

- It was released on October 5th,1991 with the idea of launching a free and fast computer system that operated on intel x86 personal computers at first only

- it was invented by Linus Torvalds
- Linux has been recognized around the world as the fastest operating system in the present.
- It has been ported to many much more platforms for operation in the last ten years. For example, android runs on a linux base called linux kernel
- It is the leading operating system in the world for proxy servers, big iron systems, supercomputers and mainframe computers.
- Fun fact: the 10 fastest computers in the world run on Linux
- Linux is completely free and can be downloaded straight from the web!

Linux relates to me because I have always wanted to try it. Several of my friends have seen and experiences linux in action and I would want that opportunity to test it and have the worlds best computer operating system under my command,

Why make such a goldmine free? Who and why had the idea to make something so great specially with the mentality of making it free of charge?

Google Day 4

Goals:

1. work on the mine craft world for presentation
2. start recording with sCreenr
3. use imovie to start mixing pics and video to start working on presentation

Today, I recorded my first take of the video. I did a little tour of new york and have it on tape. I also learned effects like an explosion effect for a transition and a dissolving effect that i can use for certain objects in the video. I also kep building the presentation site on minecraft.

Next class i want ot put everything together and work on my final draft of the video presentation.

Youtube Quiz Feature

Explanation of Test Feature

The YouTube test feature is an add on to your videos that has questions about the video, which you can answer as you watch in a quiz format.

To be able to use this amazing feature, first go to this link to become a member of the question feature community, its completely free of charge. As soon as you are part of the Beta, open up your YouTube channel. Being logged in, from your channel select one of the videos that you've uploaded. When the video starts, there should be a bar above it with several options. Click on edit. When you do, a new bar should appear above. On the far right, the last tab says "questions". Click on that. As soon as you do, the video appears again, with a tab on the right that should read "new question". Click that as many times as questions you want. Enjoy.

awesome example

This awesome feature is good for students because they can use it for:

- Creating a video on a study guide and reviewing with the questions
- Teachers testing if students pay attention to assigned videos
- Personal learning by reviewing what was learned

Digital Nation

I agree and disagree with the video. Yes, we are very dependent on technology now a days but we are not necessarily addicted. Phones and social network in the internet is extremely addictive to people all around the world, but you choose if you avoid or embrace the addiction. For this reason, I think the decision is yours to be dependent or not in technology.

People that are addicted, i think should receive help to get them a little away and get them to depend less on technology. NOT necessarily an intervention or rehab, but maybe introducing them to the real world, to play with a ball and go outside to simply feel the fresh air hit their face.

Biometric Security

Biometric Security:

What do you know about the topic before researching it?
- I think it is the security scans that work with fingerprints.

How does it work?
What does it actually read?
What is biometric?
Who invented it?

  • Biometric information includes weight, height, hair color, eye color, etc.
  • Fingerprint identification: Your fingers develop bumps when you are in the fourth month of fetal development. these create a map on your fingers that are each unique. You do age and they become larger, however they are the same. Fingerprint scanners read the distance and pattern of each bump.
  • Hand Geometry: the measurement and comparison of each detail in the hand.
  • Retina Scan: retina scans analyze the patterns in veins in the back of the eye which remain the same throughout your life. It uses a low density light to capture these patterns.
  • Iris Scan: provides an analyses of the rings, furrows and freckles that surround the pupil of the eye.

Overall, there are many ways to use biometric scanning. It is said to be one of the most advanced security systems in the world, since your unique body marks are almost impossible to fake. This security system forms part of my life since CNG is now implementing biometric security with fingerprint scanners to register entires and departures from the school. The system is still not active but it will be shortly.

Finally, I would still like to learn: How was biometric security first used?

Google Day 1

Goals:

1. Build a minecraft project
2. Create a good city to show special effects easily
3. Take a video of a tour, with effects, and post it on youtube

Today, Mathias and I researched how to start transitions, sturcturize a video and set up a scene for a video, to make editing easier. We researched transitions and learned how to mash them in iMovie for example. We also started working on our mine-craft scene for our final video.

Next class I wan tot learn how to professionally combine pics and video for better enhancement.

Google 20%

My partner, Mathias Kling, and I are going to research how to edit video. We want to learn how to edit video very well. These skills include video production, special effects and post production process. These are basic skills that one needs to master for video editing. Since we are not professionals, we are focusing on basic skills to be able to build from that.

To show our learning, we are going to present a short clip with AMAZING video editing skills. The idea is to blow the minds of the audience by showing something belived impossible in video editing. We want to show something original, our idea. What has never been created, has no comparison.

Great example of video editing: EPIC
